Yours, always

Permissions & Privacy

Snapzy is built privacy-first. Captures stay on your Mac. There is no required cloud, no account, and no telemetry. Below is exactly what each macOS permission is used for.

macOS Permissions

  • Required
    Screen Recording
Needed to capture anything on your display. macOS requires this for any app that reads pixels from the screen. You'll be prompted on first launch.
  • Optional
    Accessibility
Needed for global keyboard shortcuts and window detection. Without it you can still capture from the menu bar, but shortcuts and application-window capture become inactive.
  • Optional
    Microphone
Only requested if you want voice input in your screen recordings.

How to Grant Permissions

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  2. Choose Screen Recording (or Accessibility / Microphone as needed).
  3. Toggle the switch next to Snapzy on.
  4. Quit and reopen Snapzy so the new permission takes effect.

Onboarding — first-time users are guided through required permissions during the initial setup flow.

Revoke Permissions or Reset TCC

You can revoke any permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security. To fully reset all Snapzy permissions and app data, run the uninstall script:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/duongductrong/Snapzy/master/uninstall.sh | bash

You may need to log out or reboot for TCC changes to fully take effect.

Privacy Stance

  • No required cloud sync. Captures live in the folder you choose, on your machine. Cloud upload is opt-in.
  • No telemetry. Snapzy does not collect usage analytics, crash reports, or any identifiers.
  • No accounts. No sign-up, no login.
  • Open source. Inspect the code on GitHub.

For the formal policy, read the Privacy Policy.
