Capture History

Never lose a capture. Browse recent screenshots and recordings with filters, search, and one-click reopen in editors.

Floating History Panel

A compact floating panel shows your most recent captures for quick access. Press ⌘⇧H to toggle it from anywhere.

  • Click any item to copy, open, or delete it.
  • Double-click a screenshot to reopen it in the annotation editor.
  • Double-click a video or GIF to reopen it in the video editor.

Full History Browser

For deeper browsing, open the full history browser. It shows every capture with larger previews and more actions.

  • Type and time filters — show only screenshots, videos, or GIFs.
  • Filename search — find captures by name.
  • Configurable panel layout — adjust thumbnail size and list density.

Reopen in Editors

History items can be sent back to the editor for further work:

  • Screenshots → open in Annotate for additional markup.
  • Videos / GIFs → open in Video Editor for re-trimming or re-export.

Note — reopening a history item restores it through Quick Access so the editor keeps the same file reference.

Retention Policies

You can configure how long Snapzy keeps temp captures and history metadata.

  • Temp files are cleaned up automatically based on your retention setting.
  • Saved files in your export folder are never deleted by Snapzy.
  • History metadata can be cleared manually from Preferences.
